What does a Real Estate Acquisition Manager do?

A Real Estate Acquisition Manager is responsible for property acquisitions, generally pursuing existing properties for investment companies or private equity firms. They find, analyze, negotiate, and process the purchase of commercial real estate, residential real estate properties, or land.

Real Estate Acquisition Managers also prepare financial and legal documents, investment reports, and paperwork for the benefit of the sale and act as an intermediary between buyers, attorneys, and sellers to ensure a smooth transaction.

Real Estate Acquisition Manager Responsibilities

  • Manages all leads in a timely manner to drive business forward.
  • Builds rapport with prospects, brokers, owners, and investors to overcome objections and get the deal signed.
  • Follows up with leads through daily tracking; staying on task until deals are closed.
  • Assesses comparables, property value and condition through research, feasibility studies, outreach, data, site walks, due diligence, and analyzing market trends.
  • Prepares letters of intent, real estate market research reports, partnership models, contracts, due diligence documents, and other business administration paperwork in advance of real estate transactions.
  • Acts as an intermediary between sellers and buyers to ensure a smooth close.

Real Estate Acquisition Manager Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, or a related field of study preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a real estate specialist in real estate acquisitions, land acquisition, or real estate sales is highly desired.
  • Must be driven, goal-oriented, and passionate about real estate asset sales.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, with extremely strong phone skills.
