What is the role of a Facilities Manager?

Facilities Manager Duties

  • Oversee daily operations, policies, and workplace services to maintain facilities.

  • Develop maintenance schedules with the Asset Manager.
  • Coordinate major repairs, maintenance, and vendor assignments.
  • Conduct facility inspections and generate reports (25% travel required).
  • Obtain and evaluate price quotes for projects.
  • Oversee capital projects and budgets, including variance reporting.
  • Manage vendor relationships, training, and billing procedures.
  • Process invoices and ensure accurate cost coding.

Facilities Manager Qualifications

  • At least 5 years in commercial real estate or property management.
  • Technical knowledge of building systems (electrical, mechanical, HVAC).
  • Ability to read construction specs and blueprints.
  • Understanding of management agreements and contracts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong financial management, budgeting, and forecasting skills.
