What does a HRIS Manager do?

An HRIS Manager oversees the daily operations of the HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) department. They support and maintain specialized and internal HR systems and applications utilized by the organization.

HRIS Managers’ duties include processing employee data and ensuring compliance with relevant local and national regulations. They conduct research on vendors and implement new integrations as needed while designing manuals and documenting data processing procedures. They also provide technical support and guidance to HR employees.

HRIS Manager Responsibilities

  • Monitor the day-to-day operations of an organization’s HR information systems.
  • Process and record employee data, including compensation, hours worked, and yearly leave.
  • Assist HR leadership team with HRIS-related structural policy issues.
  • Preserve data integrity in systems through routine assessments and analyses.
  • Collaborate with the IT division to conduct routine evaluations and HRIS upgrades.
  • Design procedures, policies, and documentation that are user-friendly.
  • Manage all system improvements and enhancements in collaboration with the information technology (IT) division.
  • Ensure all HR-related software complies with privacy regulations.

HRIS Manager Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, information technology, or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience as an HRIS Manager.
  • Familiarity with labor rules and regulations.
  • Practical knowledge of managing HR databases, including payroll systems.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
