In late October 2023, we became aware that scammers were impersonating our company, using our name and logo, and even the names of actual employees, in recruitment scams. To the clients and candidates we work with: your data has not been compromised. These fraudsters are contacting random people via WhatsApp, or text, or even calling directly. Often the messages include a low-quality graphic that uses the NW Recruiting Partners logo and branding. The scammers claim they work for NW Recruiting Partners, and solicit information from the potential victims in support of a claimed job search. They may offer promises of “work” trading bitcoin in exchange for direct deposit salaries, and to support that, the fraudsters solicit personally identifiable information that may include Social Security numbers and bank account information. They may even ask for upfront payment for bitcoin accounts or for computers or other equipment.

These scam attempts continue.

We want to make it clear that the messages are not originating from our team. The people being targeted by these fraudsters are not included in the NW Recruiting Partners client list, or candidate list. We do not know how the fraudsters determine who they will contact, but the people being targeted are not known to us. The fraudsters are not known to us.

NW Recruiting Partners has not been hacked. There has been no data breach. None of the information the fraudsters use in their messages is private. They seem to have simply harvested our logo and branding, and they use that to impersonate us. They are using our name and reputation to undertake criminal acts. It threatens our brand and reputation, and puts unsuspecting people at risk.

We responded to address the situation as soon as we became aware of these activities. Our immediate action included reporting the matter to the appropriate authorities, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The FBI and the FTC are both actively investigating these scams. We understand that NW Recruiting Partners is just one of the companies these scammers are impersonating.

We never ask job candidates for payment of upfront fees for computer equipment. If you are unsure if an email is genuinely from NW Recruiting partners, report it to us at recruiting@nwrecruitingpartners.com. If you harbor other concerns or have additional information about this, reach out to us. Information you share may help the authorities put an end to these scam attempts.

Thank you,

The team at NW Recruiting Partners
